Share a Pepper Program
Dear Parents and Educators,
We are super excited to launch our #ShareAPepper Program for kids!
The program was inspired by my book series, The Kids’ Green Pepper Project, specifically the book Growing Generosity. In the story, Riley discovers that inside a single green pepper are dozens of seeds and a choice to make: share the seeds so everyone can grow peppers or keep them all for himself.
It is a defining character moment for young Riley.
This program is about more than growing peppers. It is about growing people.
Throughout The Kids’ Green Pepper Project, children are introduced to 153 Seeds of Character Development—qualities like generosity, bravery, patience, motivation, patience, honesty, respect, and encouragement. Just like a tiny pepper seed can grow into something much bigger, the seeds of character we plant in our children today can shape who they will become tomorrow.
As children grow, measure, and share their peppers this summer, we hope they also discover an important lesson: when we share what we have, everyone grows.
Together, let’s grow peppers, grow generosity, and grow the next generation of leaders—one seed at a time.

How to Participate
Grow or Find a Green Bell Pepper
From your garden, friend, or the grocery store!
Measure your Pepper
How tall? How wide? Use a tape measure or ruler to record the size.
Count the Seeds
How many seeds are inside your pepper?
Imagine how many peppers could grow from those seeds!
Decorate your Pepper
Use paint, stickers, markers, pipe cleaners, glitter, whatever you have on hand, to decorate your pepper!
Share your Pepper
Upload your results, contact info, and photo with your pepper (you're welcome to show your hands or face)!
Submit now through Sat, Aug. 1st, 2026!
Category winners will be notified via email on National Green Pepper Day, Tuesday, August 5th and featured here on the website!
A Prize for Every Participant!
All participants will receive a printable certificate, coloring page, and their name on the Wall of Generosity below! This challenge is geared towards kids in Pre K through middle school, including homeschoolers!
In addition, we are selecting winners to receive a custom green pepper trophy and $25 Amazon gift card for the following categories:
